Ben Hachten is a proud Louisville native. For Ben, the practice of law is not just a job but a calling to serve others in his community and beyond. He seeks to get to know all of his clients in depth, to listen to their stories, and to build a solid relationship based on trust. As an advocate—primarily for individuals and business plaintiffs in complex personal injury, medical malpractice, employment, and commercial cases—Ben strives to embody compassion, courage, and creativity. From intake to trial and in the event of an appeal, he is in your corner.
ABOUT BEN
ATTORNEY
Ben has always known that he wanted to be an advocate for others as a trial lawyer. After graduating summa cum laude from the University of Louisville with his B.A., he went on to attend Ohio State University’s Michael E. Moritz’s College of Law where he graduated cum laude. He was a member of Ohio State’s national trial team for two years, won a scholarship for trial advocacy, and earned the top grade in four classes, including Trial Practice. He also worked for a highly rated plaintiffs’ personal injury firm in Columbus, OH throughout law school, where he gained hands-on experience helping clients.
Immediately prior to joining Aligned Law, Ben worked for a prominent plaintiffs’ firm in Louisville, where he specialized in complex personal injury, wrongful death, and medical malpractice cases, as well as plaintiffs’ employment litigation. Ben is experienced in handling all aspects of his clients’ cases, from intake to high level depositions of corporate defendants to dispositive hearings to trial—and everything in between. Whether it’s a trial, arbitration, mediation, or an appeal, you can expect that he will be thorough, prepared, and ready to advocate for you.
Ben is active in the legal community. He is the co-founder and past President of the Louisville Catholic Bar Association and a member of both the Kentucky Justice Association and the American Association for Justice. Outside of the law, Ben and his wife founded and manage a nonprofit, Auggie’s Lighthouse, in honor of their son, Auggie, who passed away from SIDS at a young age. Auggie’s Lighthouse provides various means of support to parents grieving the loss of a young child. As a result of his own life experiences, Ben feels especially called as an attorney to accompany families who’ve lost a loved one due to the negligence of others and to advocate for their rights in the justice system.
Outside of the office, Ben enjoys spending time with his wife and children, strength training, hiking, reading, attending UofL football and basketball games, and spending as much time as possible outdoors. His family attends St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in the Highlands.
